I used my roommate [the one who isn't already an artist] as my guinea pig for making teacher samples / student examples for one of my lesson plans.
It was extremely helpful to me while my lesson was still in its draft-phase, but this process also had an added bonus for my participating roommate. He proceeded to make comments about the related visual culture that surrounds him ever since.
He ranted and raved about how this installation artist's work (Henrique Oliveira) was
related to the sculpture we had just created and discussed.
Then, he appropriated his explorations into his every day media realm with this discovery.
[ How funny that it's the same artist and we didn't notice at first. ]
He proceeded to lead a rather intense critique of it in comparison to the other work. How rewarding to find that even my test subject was effectively impacted in his whole outlook on visual culture after my project.
