I'm very interested in creating something that compiles the sentimental objects that I've hoarded, and responds to my psychological need to hoard them at all. Questions spin in my head about w h y junk is saved, what p u r p o s e it served in its "active life" in contrast to the purpose it is serving now in storage, and how my material attachments would change if I compiled selected pieces of my sentimentally hoarded junk into an aesthetic - possibly functional - object.
My thoughts first came when I wrote the Louise Bourgeois Blog Post and became inspired by / personally connected to the artist's textile work. A lot of the questions that I'm asking myself as an artist-inside-of-an-artist's-head, are hypothetically good bases for Essential Questions in Lesson Plans. I'm starting to see the relevancy of this concept in a high school student's life.
