I was looking through past exhibitions at MWPAI and came across a Word/Image featured artist, Robert Cottingham. He's a photorealist, who primarily does printmaking work and is a Pratt Institute graduate. When I read up on his work a bit, I saw that his subject matter of choice is the typical A m e r i c a n imagery and it reminded me of Wayne Thiebaud.

Stylistically, the work is similar too.
Then, I noticed similarities between Cottingham's compositions to the popular "Instagram" photos.
This is an interesting possibility for a future lesson plan, relevant to high schoolers' interests.
